Jazz improvisation -
7th arpeggios/chord tones

When improvising in jazz, chord tones are your anchor — they outline the harmony and make sure your solo “fits” the song. Start by learning the 1st (root), 3rd, 5th, and 7th of each chord, and play them as arpeggios (one note at a time) up and down the keyboard or your instrument. Practice slowly through a simple chord progression, listening to how each note blends with the harmony, and aim for smooth voice leading so the last note of one chord naturally connects to the first note of the next. Once you’re comfortable, experiment with different rhythms, add passing tones (notes in between chord tones), and try playing with swing to start creating your own jazz lines.
